Ah, Paris! Who wouldn't want to read about a woman escaping her old life and starting afresh in this delightful city full of romance, love, life and laughter? Well, ok, perhaps it's not quite so straightforward as that, I mean, it wouldn't make for such a great novel if the happy ever after came on page two, but let's face it, Paris is a great place to set a novel! Burns does a great job of evoking the atmosphere of the French capital and really making it as much of a character as Amy and her new friends. 

And not only has Amy tried to rebuild her life in a new city - on a new continent, but she is also turning thirty and at a crossroads in her life. Further complicated by the sudden appearance of her estranged husband, which all makes for a good, dramatic story! Chaos, complications and many moments of crisis are to follow! 

This is a quick, light, endearing and fun read which is full of colour and energy. Burns balances the ups and downs of Amy's life well and although it's an emotional rollercoaster, it's always kept light and leaps along. The characters are easy to visualise, easy to hear and add further layers of complications to Amy's love life, as all their story-lines weave in and out of each other throughout the pages of drama. 

Burns has a natural writing style that is informal, conversational and the reader feels like they are Amy's confidant, listening to her chat over a chilled glass of white wine at a street cafe in Paris.
