The use of Fairy Tales is so clever and so effective - really subtle but such a great idea! Feel like I need to read the book all over again now!
thanks also for your answer about the cover design - it's so interesting to hear what you think and what you like about covers!
thanks so much for taking the time to reply and I'm sure everyone that reads this post will appreciate your comments!
Good luck with the next book - fingers crossed our book group pick it too!!
Happy writing!BibliomaniacUKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13277949435652935718noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6044978823545055079.post-86481227202016224122016-07-20T03:59:23.379-07:002016-07-20T03:59:23.379-07:00This is such a lovely post - thank you! So it was wonderful to be a fly on the wall at yours.

As for the fairy tales you were almost right:
Rapunzel - obvs, (as you said)
Hansel and Gretel (Omi has breadcrumbs in her apron pocket / the cabin)
Sleeping Beauty (Peggy dreams of a man hacking down the stems of a thorny rose to get into the cabin, when she is sleeping)
Goldilocks (Peggy goes into the cabin and eats some porridge but it is too hot)
Three Little Pigs (Reuben says he could blow the cabin down with one breath)
Cinderella (Peggy's found shoe no longer fits)

And covers: Generally authors don't get any say in cover design. I was shown mine (UK and USA) in advance, but I wasn't really encouraged to comment on them. They are different across countries because the book is published by different publishers in each country, and they can choose whether to buy someone else's or design their own. (Interestingly, so far with my next book, most countries are using the US cover.) I love the US cover, and the UK hardback cover, as well as Taiwan (I'm a big fan of photos on book covers.).

Thanks once again for choosing Our Endless Numbered Days for your book club, and writing such an interesting post.

ClaireAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
